About this file
The document is a description of the salient characteristics for a Fighter Aircraft Transporter, which is a critical piece of equipment used in fighter aircraft crash recovery operations. The transporter is designed to lift a downed aircraft without the use of a crane and act as a substitute landing gear to allow the aircraft to be towed. Key details include the transporter's stowed dimensions, maximum load capacity, insertion height, net weight, and included accessories such as air bags, adjustable tow bar, and storage rack. This equipment is being procured through a federal contract opportunity, Solicitation Number FA527024QB024, issued by the Department of the Air Force Pacific Air Forces. The solicitation is a request for quotes for the Fighter Aircraft Transporter, with the goal of acquiring a self-contained tool that can safely and rapidly respond to a variety of recovery incidents involving light aircraft, including advanced fighters.

SUBJECT: Salient Characteristics for Fighter Aircraft Transporter
1. The Fighter Aircraft Transporter will be used for Fighter Aircraft Crash Recovery operations. In most crash incidents, 1 or more landing gears are too damaged to be towed off the crash site. This transporter will be used to lift the downed aircraft without the use of a crane and also act as a substitute landing gear allowing the aircraft to be towed.
2. The full list of salient characteristics of all items are as follows:
1 each Fighter Aircraft Transporter Stowed Dimensions:
Configured for Air-transport as Palletized Cargo:100X82X61 Configured for Air-transport as Rolling Stock: 146x82x78 Max Load Capacity: 20,000 LBS Insertion Height: 12" Net Weight: 8,000 LBS
Included with end item
Air Bags: Upper Module (one standard 15-Ton Module) Lower Module (4 Elements)
16.5 FT / 22.5 FT Adjustable Length Tow Bar Included (also adaptable for use with other standard tow bars) Rigging and Straps Storage Rack for Caster Wheels and Tow Bar All Tools Required for Operation Included Bottle Jack for Rotating Casters MIL-STD Storage Containers Commercial Tech Manual
This product that can vastly reduce the amount of tools needed which will reduce recovery time. The longer a crash incident is being worked on, taxiway/runway usage can be halted.
Size of the trailer/bags: A typical aircraft airbag is very large around 10 feet is width to 25 feet in height. To fully inflate can take roughly 30-45 mins for one bag alone. The aircraft transporter air bag is significantly smaller which means it will inflate faster and high enough to install the removable caster wheels and tow via tow vehicle. Once strapped down, the trailer will act as a substitute aircraft landing gear able to move the downed aircraft to the proper maintenance site.
