About this file

This document is a Draft Salient Characteristics specification for a Nurse Call System procurement by the VA Loma Linda facility. The specification outlines six mandatory requirements for the proposed nurse call system.

The system must support remote troubleshooting capabilities through VPN tunnel access without requiring on-site VA staff involvement. It must include a client-less web server accessible from any OIT workstation to provide end-users with a single dashboard for viewing nurse call and bed alerts. The system shall incorporate all basic nurse call components, including patient call cords/pillow speakers, nursing consoles, patient room audio stations, dome lights, bathroom pullcords, and audio stations. Equipment must include a room disable switch and be certified for anti-ligature compliance and splash-proof functionality in patient bathroom and shower areas. The system must interface with VA Loma Linda's existing Prism-IPX PriMega code paging system to automatically transmit nurse call alerts via page without human intermediary involvement. Finally, the system must integrate with Vocera communication technology.
