About this file
This document presents the salient characteristics for a drivable turf protection flooring system procurement by the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA). The requirement calls for 30,000 square feet of interlocking protective panels with an option for an additional 30,000 square feet, totaling up to 60,000 square feet of coverage. The panels must achieve a minimum load rating of 600 PSI to accommodate heavy machinery and vehicular traffic while protecting underlying synthetic turf from damage due to weight, pressure, and abrasion.
The panels shall be constructed from durable, weather-resistant, and UV-protected materials in light grey with all-weather features (preferred) or white (alternate), with each panel not exceeding 100 lbs. (75 lbs. or less preferred). The panels must feature uniform size and shape for interchangeability, quick setup, and layout modification, with a non-slip surface texture for safety. The contractor must provide all necessary installation tools including locking wrenches, bars, components, and cams, and shall deliver panels on new, clean pallets with 3-inch height clearance for standard forklift handling. Initial training on setup and teardown procedures for USAFA personnel is required as part of the delivery and transition.
