About this file

This is a Salient Characteristics Sheet describing a FlightSafety Gulfstream G550 Standard Ground-based Flight Simulator (GFS) to be procured and installed at Andrews Air Force Base.

The required item is one (1) FlightSafety Gulfstream G550 Standard GFS configured to fit a space of 10' wide x 10' long with 8' ceiling requirement. The system features multiple touchscreen monitors resembling a C-37B (G550) cockpit and includes FlightSafety current standard software and licenses, including MATRIX™ Software on Windows 10, high-fidelity G550 aircraft systems software, Honeywell EPIC 34.0.0 Cert H avionics, FMS Version NZ 7.1.2, and Rolls Royce BR710 engine simulation. The hardware comprises a standard G550 GFS structure with two simulated cursor control devices, standard host PC, uninterruptible power supply, portable IOS on a touchscreen laptop, and two office-style chairs. Deliverables include shipping and installation at Andrews AFB, one day on-site training and customer acceptance, a two-year limited warranty, and a spares package containing one 21" LCD touchscreen monitor, one 24" LCD touchscreen monitor, one graphics card, one video cable, one USB cable, one cursor control device, and one host server.

The C-37B (G550) GFS functions as a graphically simulated cockpit for crew training in systems integration, crew resource management, normal and abnormal procedures, and avionics operations. The system includes an Instructor Operating Station (IOS) deployed on a detachable wireless touchscreen laptop, with malfunctions available to support abnormal procedures training. The FMS can be fully programmed with the auto-pilot to execute in-flight training scenarios.

Functions to be performed = The C-37B (G550) GFS is a graphically simulated cockpit using a configuration of touch-screen monitors mounted on a frame that is spatially similar to the actual cockpit. There are two Auxiliary monitors, one above each crew member’s instrument panel which provides simulation control functions, display of simulated schematics, and snapshot selections. Aircraft sounds and aural cues are reproduced. An Instructor Operating Station (IOS) is deployed on a separate touch screen laptop that can be detached and used as a wireless device.

GFS functions include Systems Integration, Crew Resource Management, normal/abnormal procedures training and avionics training. The FMS can be fully programmed and used in conjunction with the Auto-Pilot to execute in-flight training scenarios. A set of malfunctions is provided to allow for training in abnormal situations.
