About this file

This document is a Product Requirements (PR) specification for a Remote Weather Observation Station Package, detailing comprehensive technical requirements for a standalone, ruggedized environmental monitoring device. The station must meet multiple military and aerospace standards (AS 9100, 9110, ISO 9001, MIL-STD-461F, MIL-STD-810G), operate in temperatures from -40°F to 140°F, and include an integrated two-way iridium satellite transmitter, LTE-M cellular capability, and a 360° imaging camera. The device must be self-stabilizing, deployable without installation or specialized training, mountable on a tripod, and designed to blend into natural environments per National Parks guidance.

The weather station is required to report and calculate an extensive range of meteorological data, including air temperature, relative humidity, barometric pressure, wind metrics, GPS coordinates, precipitation details, lightning characteristics, and advanced calculations like wind chill, heat index, dew point, and altitude measurements. Additional critical requirements include a minimum 12-month warranty, battery/solar power options, FCC compliance, and the ability to be rapidly relocated, particularly to support temporary landing zones during natural disasters. The device must be an all-in-one sensor with a ceilometer, capable of immediate out-of-box deployment while minimizing environmental impact.
