About this file

This is a Statement of Work document outlining requirements for a DC Ramp Test Set and Corona Probe for the Bureau of Reclamation's Technical Service Center Hydropower Diagnostics & SCADA Group. The equipment will be used for off-line insulation diagnostics on large motors and generators to protect against shutdowns and costly repairs.

The procurement specifies two IRIS brand name items: 1) A DC Ramp Test Set Model DCR 60-2 with 60kV DC negative polarity output, 1.0mA output current, micro-ampere measurement capabilities, adjustable voltage ramp rate, and IEEE 95-2002 compliance, and 2) A PPM-97 Telescope Corona Probe that is battery-powered and hand-held for measuring partial discharge activity in rotating machines. Delivery is required to the Denver Federal Center, with the DC Ramp Test due 26 weeks after award and the Corona Probe due 4 weeks after award.

Description of Statement of Work

1.0 Project Title: Ramp Test Set and Corona Probe

2.0 Background: Technical Service Center, Hydropower Diagnostics & SCADA Group provides technical support for Reclamation facilities including performance of off-line insulation diagnostics for large motors and generators (rotating machines). The Ramp Test Set and Corona Probe are vital to gaining diagnostic insight into the condition of the machine insulation. Ultimately these tests protect generators and other equipment which in turn reduces the effects of potential and actual shutdowns (e.g., grid stability, costly repairs, and replacements).

3.0 Scope/Salient Characteristics:

This requirement for IRIS products must be fulfilled, via a brand name procurement.

CLIN 10 – Part Number DC605 – DC Ramp Test Set Model DCR 60-2 (Qty 1)

1. Has 0 to 60 kilo-Volt Direct-Current, negative polarity output capability.

2. Output current 1.0 mili-Ampere.

3. Measures current accurately in the ranges of 1.0 micro-Ampere to 250 micro-amperes.

4. Infinitely adjustable voltage ramp rate from 0 to 2.5 kilovolts per minute.

5. Voltage limiting trip settings.

6. Performs testing in accordance with IEEE 95-2002 standards.

7. USB connection to PC to record test curves (insulation resistance profile vs. applied voltage)

8. Includes: control unit, HV module, USB communication, control, HV & grounding cables, software license for current version release and manual

CLIN 20 – Part Number PPM9000 – PPM-97 Telescope, Corona Probe (Qty 1)

1. Battery powered and hand-held probe and measurement device.

2. Ability to measure off-line partial discharge (PD) activity occurring in a rotating machine on a slot-by-slot basis.

3. Ability to locate elevated PD readings and pinpoint the areas of high PD activity along each stator winding slot.

4. Measurement bandwidth of 0.5 to 10 Mega-Hertz (MHz)

5. Multiple meter ranges for peak readings.

6. Telescopic hand-held probe extensible to 3 meter length.

7. Includes: peak pulse meter, telescope probe 3 meters, group strap, manual & carrying case.
