About this file
This document is a set of responses from the Government to questions received regarding a Request for Information (RFI) for a roof replacement project at the Miami VA Medical Center. The key details are:
The project involves replacing the roof on Building 7, including the removal and reinstallation of the existing lightning protection system, roof drains, and other related components. The Government has specified the use of a Tremco roofing system or equivalent. Contractors must have a valid Florida Roofing Contractor License with at least 15 years of experience. The Government will not consider alternate roofing systems. Contractors can re-use good components of the existing lightning protection system, and retro roof drains can be used. The Government has clarified requirements for insulation, slope, coatings, and other technical aspects of the work. Fall protection around the roof perimeter is not required, but life safety railing on the parapet wall is. The Government has also specified that the legacy "fence frame" structure is to be removed along with the designated steel structures.
The related federal contract opportunity is Solicitation Number 36C24824R0103, titled "Replace Roof Building 7 at Miami VA Medical Center". The original proposals due date has been changed to April 26, 2024 at 11:00 AM.
