About this file

The document is a Scope of Work for Bid S-6-26 by the City of Cheyenne, detailing a hazardous material abatement project at the High Plains Arboretum involving the Greenhouse, Lath House, and Head House. The project encompasses the removal of asbestos-containing materials, lead-based and lead-containing paint from existing historic structures, including steel frames, wood components, glazing, and associated elements. The abatement work is scheduled in two phases: Greenhouse Hazardous Material Abatement from 4/15/2026 to 5/15/2026, and Lath House Hazardous Material Abatement from 5/15/2026 to 6/15/2026. The contractor will work in close coordination with the General Contractor completing work under City of Cheyenne Bid #S-5-26 for the renovation.

The scope includes specific demolition and abatement tasks such as removing chicken wire hail protection, lead-based paint from steel components, wood elements, glass and glazing, steam piping, and contaminated soil within and around the structures. Some items like glazing bar caps, winged retainer clips, and metal glazing retainer caps are to be salvaged for potential reuse. The Head House portion of the project has been awarded separately and is included for coordination purposes. The abatement work requires careful removal of hazardous materials while preserving certain structural elements for future renovation, with particular attention to lead contamination in paint, soil, and building components.
