About this file
The document is a Scope of Work for Bid S-6-26 by the City of Cheyenne involving hazardous material abatement at the High Plains Arboretum, specifically targeting the Greenhouse, Lath House, and Head House. The project requires the removal of asbestos-containing materials and lead-based/lead-containing paint from historic structures, including demolition of existing components such as wood framing, glazing, steel frames, piping, electrical fixtures, and soil contamination. The abatement work is scheduled in two phases: Greenhouse Hazardous Material Abatement from 4/15/2026 to 5/15/2026, and Lath House Hazardous Material Abatement from 5/15/2026 to 6/15/2026. The Head House portion has been awarded separately and is included for coordination purposes.
The scope of work details specific removal requirements for each structure, including salvaging certain components for potential reuse by a general contractor. The project emphasizes careful deconstruction, with instructions to temporarily secure existing structures, remove paint and contaminated materials, and prepare surfaces for future renovation. The abatement contractor will work in close coordination with the general contractor completing work under a separate City of Cheyenne bid for the High Plains Arboretum renovation. While no specific budget or funding sources are mentioned in the document, the detailed scope suggests a comprehensive approach to preparing the historic structures for future restoration.
