About this file

The document is a Route Path Diagram describing a network routing process for inmate internet services, involving the State of Michigan's Department of Technology, Management, and Budget (DTMF) and an unnamed vendor. The diagram outlines the technical pathway for an inmate's internet service request, which begins with the inmate initiating a request on a provided device, routes through a dedicated wireless access point, passes through a state-managed firewall, and is then transferred to the vendor's firewall, which serves as the network demarcation point for a new "greenfield" network infrastructure.

The technical routing diagram appears to be part of a larger solicitation or project planning document for implementing an inmate internet service network. The diagram indicates a complex, segmented network approach with specific security handoff points, suggesting careful consideration of network isolation and security protocols. While specific pricing, funding sources, or contract terms are not detailed in this document, the technical specifications imply a sophisticated approach to providing controlled internet access within a correctional environment, with clear delineation of network management responsibilities between state infrastructure and vendor-provided services.

Text version

This is written to help describe the network path the inmate would take

· Inmate makes a request for internet ready services on the inmate device provided by the vendor.

· Inmates request is routed to the DTMB managed Access Point on the SSID dedicated to inmate traffic.

· Inmates wireless traffic arrives at the SOM managed firewall and this traffic is now routed to the vendor firewall.

· The vendor firewall in this equation is the point of demarcation. Meaning all traffic beyond this point is now part of the new greenfield network that we are looking for solutions on the building of.
