About this file

This document is a Request for Bid (RFB) issued by Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine (AUCVM) for hay procurement. The university is seeking bids for perennial grass hay (Bermuda, Bahia, or equivalent), annual Ryegrass hay, and wrapped baleage to be used for equine, ruminant, dairy, and beef cattle units. The total estimated annual quantities include 25-50 tons of square bales, 125-200 tons of dry round bales, and 150-200 tons of wrapped baleage. The contract will be valid for one year with potential renewals, and pricing increases for renewal years must be mutually agreed upon by AUCVM and the awarded vendor.

The bid specifies detailed technical requirements for hay, including minimum nutritional standards such as Total Digestible Nutrients ≥58.7%, Protein Content ≥11%, and Dry Matter ≥88% for square and round bales. Delivery specifications mandate use of 36-53 foot enclosed semi-trailers, delivery within 48 hours of notification, and delivery hours between 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. CST. Pricing must include product, packaging, and delivery to AUCVM's Central Receiving, with no additional fuel surcharges permitted. The university reserves the right to reject hay not meeting specifications and will conduct random core sample testing. Award will consider factors beyond price, including staff and patient safety, and the university maintains flexibility in contract allocation.
