About this file

This document is an answer to a question related to an Invitation for Bids (IFB) issued by the State Retirement Agency (SRA) of Maryland for shredding and recycling services, referenced as IFB SRA 23-107. The IFB requires the selected contractor to pick up filled locked containers of paper from SRA offices, transport them off-site for shredding and destruction at a recycling center, and provide a certificate of destruction. The IFB notes that there is no available space for the contractor's vehicle to park on-site due to the agency's location in downtown Baltimore. Bids for this contract are due on March 6, 2023.

The IFB specifies that the services must be performed off-site, as there is no space available on-site for the contractor's vehicle. The successful contractor will be required to transport all filled locked containers of paper off SRA premises to a recycling center for shredding and destruction, and provide a certificate of destruction after the documents have been completely shredded and destroyed.

SHREDDING AND RECYCLING

SRA 23-107

BIDS DUE MARCH 6, 2023

QUESTION: Would you consider onsite shredding or is the RFP only allowing offsite/haul away shredding? Clarification on this issue is important to us so we can determine participation in the bid.

ACCORDING TO SECTION 3: SCOPE OF WORK

SECTION 3.1.3 The Contractor shall pick up all filled locked containers from the designated offices and return empty locked containers back to the appropriate offices. Under this agreement each time a service is performed, the Contractor shall transport all filled locked containers of paper off SRA premises to a recycling center for shredding and destruction. The Contractor shall provide the Contract Monitor with a certificate of destruction after the documents have been completely shredded and destroyed.

ANSWER: There is no available space for parking for the vehicle that will be providing service. We are in the busy downtown area of Baltimore City.
