About this file
This is a mass properties reporting template that provides detailed instructions for reporting helmet system measurements across different configurations. The template requires reporting mass properties data for three helmet configurations (Slick, JHMCS, and HObIT) in both day and night operations.
The template includes fields for recording configured weight, helmet size, date, center of gravity measurements (CGx, CGy, CGz), and moment calculations (Mx, My, Mz) relative to the occipital condyle joint. Specific measurement requirements include using appropriate helmet sizes fitted with MBU-20/P oxygen mask, mask oxygen hose, and communication cables. Night configurations must include Night Vision Goggles and adapter hardware, while JHMCS configurations require JHMCS system components and universal connectors. HObIT configurations must include the HObIT system and associated mounting hardware. An anatomical coordinate system diagram is included to illustrate the measurement reference points.

ATTACHMENT II – Mass Properties Reporting Template
1) Report mass properties of your helmet system for the following configurations using the template provided:
Configuration
Mass Property-
Configured Weight (lb.)
Helmet
Size Date
CGx (in)
CGy (in)
CGz (in)
Mx
(in-lb.)
My
(in-lb.)
Mz
(in-lb.)
Slick day night
JHMCS
HObIT
Table Definitions:
Slick - Refers to base helmet system JHMCS - Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System HObIT - Hybrid Optical-based Inertial Tracker System Day - denotes configuration required for day operations Night - denotes configuration required for night operations Date - date measurements were recorded (use 2-digit day, month, and year MM/DD/YY) Helmet Size – helmet size used for measurement CG - Center-of-Gravity CGx - X-component measurement with regards to occipital condyle (OC) joint CGy - Y-component measurement with regards to OC joint CGz - Z-component measurement with regards to OC joint Mx - Calculated moment-x My - Calculated moment-y Mz - Calculated moment-z
Anatomical Coordinate System, Including OC joint is shown:
Data should be reported in the following manner:
When reporting in the "Mass Property-Configured Weight (lb.)" column, weight should be reported in pounds (lb.).
For each configuration reported, helmet system size that best fits the center of gravity head form should be used and include a suitably sized MBU-20/P oxygen mask, three inches of mask oxygen hose, and six inches of communication cable.
For night configurations, the addition of Night Vision Goggle (NVG), NVG F4949 TG/G series should be included in the measurement, as well as helmet system adapter hardware, which would include any brackets, interfaces, mounts, etc. that would be used to secure NVGs to the helmet system.
For JHMCS configurations, the addition of JHMCS system should be included in the measurement, as well as helmet system adapter hardware, which would include the universal connector and any brackets, interfaces, mounts, etc. that would be used to secure JHMCS to the helmet system.
For HObIT configurations, the addition of the HObIT system should be included in the measurement, as well as helmet system adapter hardware, which would include any brackets, interfaces, mounts, etc. that would be used to secure HObIT to the helmet system.
2) Upon reporting mass property detail according to template above, describe set-up and methods utilized for collecting measurements.
