About this file
This is a bid specification document issued by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife in 2010 for the procurement of aquatic piscicide rotenone to eradicate unwanted fish species from ponds. The specification outlines requirements for both liquid and powdered rotenone formulations, with quoted amounts of 300 gallons of liquid rotenone and 8,250 pounds of powdered rotenone based on a minimum 5% active ingredient concentration. Delivery was preferred for late September 2010 with specific dates to be determined. Bidders were required to provide separate quotations for delivery to any of three locations: 63 Station Street in Ashland, Maine; Big Reed Pond off Pinkham Road in Piscataquis County; or a potential location in Presque Isle, Maine, if available.
The specification requires that liquid rotenone be packaged in 5-gallon buckets and powdered rotenone be debris-free, passing 90% through a 200 mesh, with preferred packaging in bags that are crated and palletized for transport in compliance with USDOT standards. All bids must include Material Safety Data Sheets and Certificates of Analysis with delivery, and a higher percentage of active ingredient is preferred as it would reduce overall product quantities ordered. The specification does not provide explicit pricing terms, set-aside information, or funding sources within this document.
