Summary of Work
The purpose of this project is to restore, improve, and standardize transportation infrastructure elements at the NWSSB to ensure they are safe, visible, functional and compliant with regulatory standards. There are three distinct areas of the project: the roadway improvements, the parking lot restoration and the signage improvements.
Roadway Improvements
This Work involves restoring roadway surfaces and pavement markings to improve safety and visibility for drivers and pedestrians. The scope includes sealing cracks and refreshing/reapplying existing striping, which includes centerlines, crosswalks, stop bars, and directional markings to clearly define traffic movement. Curb markings will be cleaned. All work will be performed in accordance with the Plans and as required by the Specifications, with appropriate traffic control measures implemented to maintain safe and continuous vehicle and pedestrian circulation during construction.
Parking Lot Restoration
The Work focuses on rehabilitating parking lot surfaces and markings to enhance functionality and safety. Activities include crack sealing to preserve pavement conditions and removal or obscuring of worn or outdated striping. New striping will be applied to clearly define parking stalls, drive aisles, and internal circulation patterns. Accessible parking spaces will be laid out and installed with proper markings. Additional work includes cleaning curb markings and repainting directional arrows and crosswalks. Temporary wheel stop removals may be necessary to facilitate proper striping and/or slurry coat/crack sealing.
Signage Improvements
The Work includes the removal, replacement and installation of traffic and regulatory signage to ensure clarity, safety, and compliance with Project Plans and Specifications. Existing signs identified as out of scope, damaged, faded, or non-compliant will be removed and properly disposed of. All replacement signs shall conform to the latest California Manual on Unified Traffic Control Devices (CA MUTCD) requirements regardless of the existing sign configurations. New signage will be installed on compliant breakaway posts. New signs and posts must be installed at the proper offset from the edge of the roadway, and at the appropriate height and size for posted speed limit. Where a conflict exists, consult with the Navy. All signs will be placed and installed in accordance with Project Plans and Specifications.
The Bid Form identifies the pay items associated with the Work, including both unit-price and lump-sum bid items as applicable to each component of the Project.
