About this file

This is a specification and rights document issued by the State of Maine Division of Purchases for the fabrication and installation of a heavy-duty galvanized steel utility body mounted on a 2008 Ford F350 Super Duty truck under specification 184-145. The utility body must meet detailed construction and compartmentalization requirements, with bids due March 21, 2008. The specification requires a 108-inch-long, 95-inch-wide, and 36-inch-high low-profile body with fully welded 14-gauge galvanized steel construction featuring comprehensive V-style compartmentalization on both curb and street sides, including a front compartment (36 inches high × 33 inches wide × 20 inches deep with two adjustable shelves per side), a horizontal compartment (19 inches high × 46 inches wide × 20 inches deep with one adjustable shelf per side), and a rear compartment (36 inches high × 29 inches wide × 20 inches deep with one adjustable shelf per side). The left rear compartment must be reinforced to support a customer-supplied 1,000-pound capacity electric crane (1989 Venturo DT1004).

The utility body must include 12-gauge full-height tread plate on interior surfaces; exterior doors constructed of 20-gauge double-panel steel with two-stage slam-type rotary latches and stainless-steel hardware; an exterior finish in Ford paint code "CX" (Dark Shadow Gray) with white interior cabinet, multi-coat chromate primer, acrylic urethane top coat, and automotive-type undercoating featuring a minimum five-year rust-through warranty. Additional required equipment includes an FMVSS lighting package with quick-connect wiring, an eight-inch recessed steel tread plate step, a drop receiver hitch rated for minimum 5,000-pound weight capacity, a backup alarm, and a seven-way RV-style trailer connector. Bidders must submit unit cost, total cost, estimated delivery time, and vendor contact information. In-state bidders or bidders whose products are manufactured in Maine receive preference in tied-bid situations. All deliveries must comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and pricing submissions must exclude federal and Maine state sales and use taxes.
