3. Inspection and Tiered Repair Services

The work required involves inspection of the container followed by a series of maintenance and repair tasks that increase in complexity across five tiers. Reusable container maintenance and repair services shall include, but not be limited to, inspecting and cleaning the container, removing and replacing various components such as desiccant, installation instructions, hardware, and seals, and making adjustments to ensure a hermetic seal. Additionally, the work may involve removing and replacing inner frame hardware, latch hardware, shockmounts, gaskets, nameplates, humidity indicators, valves, and observation windows. Higher tiers of repair work will also include weld repair, manufacturing or replacing custom or modified hardware, and fabricating or replacing simple or complex component parts, such as plates, tubes, brackets, frames, or mounting assemblies.

3.1. Inspection

Contractor shall perform an inspection on each container. Inspection shall be performed in accordance with requirements contained in maintenance manual AG-0830AC-000-MEB, work packages 003 and 039. After conducting the inspection, the contractor shall furnish an inspection checklist sheet with container serial number, all relevant inspection sheets, notes, pictures, or other documentation. The checklist and supporting documentation shall be furnished along with the “Repair Tier” (as detailed below) and repair timeline to perform all corrective actions necessary to address all noted defects to the NAVSUP WSS- FLC Contract Specialist and NAVSUP WSS-PHIL code N98 Item Manager and code N241 Packaging Engineer. The indicator will return to an acceptable indication within 24 hours after replacement of desiccant. Humidity indicator inspection periods should be tailored to the prevailing atmospheric conditions of the local area.

Humidity must be controlled or the result could be the accumulation of water within the container. In the event of accumulated water, the drain plug, located in bottom of container base assembly, must be removed to eliminate water or other liquids.

3.2.4 Removal/Replacement of Minor Components
