DESCRIPTION/SPECIFICATIONS/WORK STATEMENT
Project Description
The U.S. Embassy in Djibouti intends to replace the existing interior plastic water storage tank, located inside the water treatment facility, with a new modular Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) water tank. The scope of work is Design-Build construction and includes complete disassembly and removal of the old tank, the design and installation of a new GRP tank and appurtenances, with all required accessories and sensors, hydrostatic testing, final disinfection, and commissioning.
1. Design Phase
The contractor shall:
a. Conduct a detailed site survey to verify all dimensions, access constraints, and the condition of the existing tank, connections, equipment, and concrete foundation. A dimensional verification survey must be conducted to confirm that the proposed modular tank and all associated appurtenances will fit the intended installation footprint.
Particular attention must be paid to clearance for installation, maintenance access, and structural support conditions.
b. The contractor shall verify that all system components (piping, valves, sensors, and flanges) are compatible with the existing water distribution system and meet OBO requirements including system redundancy, maintenance access, and leak prevention.
Designs shall include a site adapted schematic showing utility interface points and routing diagrams. Any need for adaptation works must be highlighted and approved in advance.
c. Design a modular GRP water storage tank, ensuring the design and materials conform to the following standards:
1. AWWA D103-09 – Bolted water storage tank construction,
