RFP-CMS-2007-0019 – Pricing, Data Analysis, and Coding (PDAC) Q&A Attachment 1

SADWH Response to Proposal Questions

Data to support the current SADMERC contract is maintained within the Palmetto GBA Statistical Analysis Data Warehouse (SADWH). This 14-terabyte ‘home-grown’ data warehouse also supports the analytical data needs of many other CMS contracts. The current SADWH environment is comprised of DB2 ESE in a UNIX environment, SAS and SASIntrnet in both UNIX and Windows environments, and Business Objects/WebI running on Windows 2000. All hardware and software licenses associated with the current SADWH are the property of BCBSSC, and are not transferable. The current DME database, which also supports three other contracts in addition to the SADMERC contract, is currently 2.5 Terabytes in size. This includes production data, indices, and user defined tables.

Below is a table which describes volumes of the current SADWH. It should be understood that the current SADWH was developed and has been modified over time to support the SADMERC SOW. It is the responsibility of each offerer to the PDAC RFP to design a data warehouse that meets the requirements of the PDAC SOW. The information provided below is intended only to assist PDAC offerers in designing a PDAC data warehouse solution by providing current volumes. The offerer that is awarded the PDAC contract can expect to receive data in a platform-independent format (i.e. text delimited) from the SADWH in the format currently maintained for the SADMERC contract for all DME claims from 1993 to the present. Table formats for the data will also be provided.

A copybook for the CABEHIBC file is included (cabehibc.txt). This layout is current as of the writing of this document (03/26/08); however, the format is subject to change at any time.
