About this file

This is Addendum Number 1 to RFP A25-0733 issued by Ames Laboratory on December 12, 2024, with proposals due December 20, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. CST. The addendum modifies the original RFP documents dated December 3, 2024.

The addendum addresses two questions: 1) Progress payments can be included in proposed payment terms, and 2) Clarification on Molybdenum X-ray optics requirements, specifying that Bragg-Brentano/parallel beam configuration is required, with a preference for transmission focusing optic capability for capillary measurements using Mo radiation, particularly for samples containing highly scattering elements like Fe, Co, and Gd. If vendors cannot provide the transmission option, they must propose alternative solutions for collecting data on such samples.

GENERAL ITEMS: Item 1

GENERAL ITEMS

1.) Question #1: Can progress payments be made and suggested in payment terms on the bid response quotation?

Answer #1: Yes, please include your proposed payment terms in your proposal.

Question #2: Please clarify what the expectation is for Molybdenum X-ray optics since none are specified. Is the expectation Bragg-Brentano/parallel beam or transmission focusing optic?

Answer #2: Operation of Molybdenum X-ray optics in Bragg-Brentano/parallel beam configuration is required. The ability to use transmission focusing optic for capillary measurements using Mo radiation is preferred because our polycrystalline research samples often contain highly scattering elements such as Fe, Co, and Gd. If a vendor cannot provide transmission option for Mo radiation, acceptable solutions for collecting data on such samples must be provided.
