ADDENDUM INDEX

GENERAL ITEMS Questions submitted, and answers provided

GENERAL ITEMS

Question 1: The document states "The end users would like the option to travel to the vendor's manufacturing/testing facility for a Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) prior to shipment of the system. If possible, using the end user’s chemicals of choice provided there are no issues with volatility." Please confirm if the word "option" refers to the entire FAT request or only to the request to travel to the vendor facility. Please provide any details about the requested FAT chemicals, procedures and success criteria, if they are known.

Response: The word “option” refers to the travels. The known chemicals have been mentioned in the RFP and others are yet to be determined.

Question 2: Do all mixers need to meet vessel (or vial) design, vessel (or vial) volume, stir rate, temperature range and pressure range? Can this work be divided into multiple different mixers?

Response: All mixers both should be modular to fit different style of vials and work under different mixing rate. If there will be two mixers, both should also work under the described temperature range and pressure range. If there will be three, at least two of them should work under the described temperature range and pressure range.

Question 3: What types of gases will be introduced to the mixer and what pressures for the different gases?

Response: The gases need to be introduced include but not limited to nitrogen, argon, and synthetic air.

The pressure was mentioned in the RFP.

Question 4: What percentage of the workflow(s) needs pressurized gases?

Response: Only the mixing process needs pressurized gases.

Question 5: To provide estimated sample/time throughputs can an example manual procedure (with chemical and reactions specifics) be provided? This example procedure would then be converted into an automated process where we can estimate throughput and system capacities.

Response: The instrument should meet the requirement for separation/extraction-related studies (mentioned in the RFP). Using liquid-liquid extractions as an example, the workflow includes solutions preparation starting from solid solutes, possible process for concentration adjustment (such as dilution), pH adjustment and measurement, adding up the two immiscible solutions, mixing the two immiscible solutions, separating two phases with visual capture, sample taking from the two phases, pH adjustment and measurement, and possible dilution for further analysis.

Question 6: What is the door height of the lab opening (width is listed at 34.5”)?

Response: The clear open dimension of the door frame (with door removed) leading into the intended laboratory space is 34-1/2 inches wide by 83 inches high.

Question 7: What is the budget for this project?

Response: The budget will not be disclosed so please submit line itemized options or various systems that meet the requirements if there are significant differences in pricing.
