GENERAL ITEMS Additional questions submitted, and answers provided
GENERAL ITEMS
Question 1: Does Ames have a preferred mixer vendor or is a custom mixer very much part of the supply?
Response: There is no preferred mixer vendor.
Question 2: Are systems required for the control of the pressurized organic vapor entry and removal from the mixer? If so these will be specific to the vapors selected and thereby which vapors should we consider?
Response: The system is required to regulate the pressurization and depressurization. Typical organic solvents and gases are listed in the RFP and/or Addendum.
Question 3: Is there a desired capacity for the mixer such that it’s mix time matches the desired throughput?
Response: The outer dimension (width and length are fixed; height can be varied) of sample holder must follow SBS/ANSI plate standards for robotic operation. The mixer should hold at least one plate. Simultaneous operation of more than one plates is preferred. We expect the vendor should match the capacity of the mixer and those of the sample preparation (dissolution and dilution; see Addendum 2).

Question 4: Is there a range in mind for the test or tests workflow numbers for typical vials sizes, throughputs and capacities so a suitable system can be envisaged?
Response: Typical vial size ranges from 2 mL to 50 mL. The capacities of vials/tubes can be adjusted by varying the number of plates in the mixer.
Question 5: The specification section marked “Handling of solid and liquid for automated sample preparation” calls for “solid dispersion”. Might this be read as “solid dispensing” or “solids dispensing”?
Response: Yes. It is meant for solids dispensing.
Question 6: Can we assume the laboratory has a 7bar min clean compressed air supply?
Response: Yes.
Question 7: Can we assume the solids for dispensing are available to be tested for their suitability for any particular dispense method as an initial piece of work?
Response: Yes. Solid samples can be provided for testing.
