About this file
This is a Request for Proposal (RFP) issued by Charlevoix Public Schools for school district moving services related to the relocation of Charlevoix Elementary School. The RFP was issued on October 22, 2019, with a proposal closing date of November 5, 2019, at 2 p.m. Proposals must be submitted to Mike Ritter at Charlevoix Public Schools, 104 E. St. Mary's Drive, Charlevoix, Michigan 49720. The moving services are scheduled across three phases occurring on November 22-23, December 13-14, and December 20-21, 2019, with exact dates subject to change. The scope includes moving all non-classroom spaces, classroom materials, file cabinets, library shelving units (17 units) and rolling stacks (29 units), music equipment, athletic equipment, art and kiln room supplies, cleaning equipment and supplies, and kitchen equipment and supplies. A mandatory walk-through is required for all bidders; failure to attend constitutes a declination to bid. The Owner and Construction Manager will evaluate proposals based on best value to the Owner, considering factors beyond price alone.
Bidders must provide a lump sum proposal with a detailed cost breakdown itemizing supervision, manpower and wage rates, trucking, equipment costs, and other necessary items, along with a certificate of insurance. The moving services must include full-time on-site supervision with one supervisor and one foreperson per team, provision of all equipment (trucks, dollies, wheeled carts), protection against damage to items and building finishes, and responsibility for repairs to door frames, walls, floors, and cabinets caused during the move. The Owner will handle moving of computers, copier/printers, and phones; provide packing supplies; and provide dumpsters. Overtime costs will not be approved as additional charges. The RFP requests a daily or hourly rate for movers and equipment on-site and notes that leftover items will be moved by the district as needed from January 6 through January 24, 2020, when classes resume.
