About this file
This is a Request for Proposal (RFP) specification document issued by Michigan for the procurement of a shredding system for a records center. The organization seeks a multi-shaft, low-speed, high-torque shredding system powered between 40 and 60 horsepower, designed to process a wide range of materials including sensitive documents, plastics, uniforms, Kevlar, and limited metal objects. The system must feature manual hand-feeding capability without conveyor systems, allowing flexible placement within existing facility constraints. The shredder must accommodate interchangeable sizing screens to produce defined particle sizes and operate effectively without screens for larger or more rigid materials. A critical operational requirement is that screen system changeouts must be completed within one hour by two personnel to minimize downtime. The RFP does not specify response dates, due dates, site visits, bidder meetings, or award dates within the available documentation.
Vendors submitting bids must provide technical specifications, system drawings or brochures, electrical requirements, a complete list of compatible screen sizes with associated pricing, an installation quote covering delivery and on-site training, warranty documentation, a recommended maintenance schedule, and information regarding applicable tariff costs. The installation quote should comprehensively address all additional costs associated with delivery, setup, and on-site training to support various destruction needs across the organization's operations. No specific pricing terms, set-asides, incumbent information, funding requirements, or contract term details are specified in the available specification document.

Text version
Multi‑Shaft, Low‑Speed, High‑Torque Shredding System (40–60 HP) The organization requires an industrial shredding system capable of securely and efficiently processing a wide range of sensitive and durable materials.
The system must be a multi‑shaft, low‑speed, high‑torque shredder powered between 40 and 60 HP to ensure controlled shredding of both lightweight materials such as paper and plastics, as well as tougher items including uniforms, Kevlar, and limited metal objects. To support various destruction needs, the shredder must operate with interchangeable sizing screens to produce defined particle sizes and must also function effectively without screens for larger or more rigid materials.
The design must allow safe manual hand‑feeding without conveyors, enabling flexible placement within existing facility constraints. The screen system must support efficient changeout within one hour by two personnel to minimize downtime transitioning from a defined particle size to shredding without a screen.
Vendors must provide an installation quote as part of their proposal. Quotes should include any additional costs for delivery, setup, and on-site training.
Vendors must include the following in their bid submission:
· Technical specifications for the proposed shredder
· System drawings, diagrams, or brochures (if available)
· Electrical requirements
· List of compatible screen sizes with pricing
· Installation quote
· Warranty documentation
· Recommended maintenance schedule
· Costs of any applicable tariffs
