About this file

This document is an addendum to a Request for Proposal (RFP) issued by the Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB) for the Backflow Database Replacement Project, RFP 21-148-PSC. The addendum provides clarification on the number of water service connections, non-residential/commercial connections, backflow preventers, and annual inspections. EWEB is seeking proposals from qualified software and service firms to identify, select, and implement a comprehensive Backflow Database solution. The proposals are due by 2:00 PM PT on October 8, 2021, and the contract will be awarded to the selected firm.

The addendum indicates that EWEB has approximately 64,000 water service connections, with about 8,000 being non-residential/commercial. EWEB is tracking around 18,100 backflow preventers, of which 100 are non-testable devices. EWEB performs approximately 600 backflow preventer inspections annually, with the number driven by the construction market.

Answer: About 18,100 backflow preventers.
