About this file
This Q&A document is part of RFP 173-25020 from Cumberland County Schools (CCS) for the adoption of 6-12 English Language Arts (ELA) curriculum materials. The RFP seeks both print and digital curriculum materials for approximately 26,000 students across grades 6-12, with vendors permitted to bid on individual grade bands (6-8 or high school). Vendor presentations are scheduled for March 18, with Board of Education decisions expected in April. The contract term is for school years 2025-2026 and 2026-2027, with implementation beginning in 2025-2026. Sample materials must be received by February 10, 2025, with finalists required to provide 11 complete sets of materials by March 3, 2025.
The district has provided detailed enrollment figures showing approximately 11,400 students in grades 6-8 and 16,100 students in grades 9-12, with 45 ELA teachers per grade level. Class periods will be 50-60 minutes for Tier 1 instruction plus 50-60 minutes of shared time for Tier 2 and 3 instruction. The district currently uses a variety of vendor resources and is open to both novel-based and standards-based approaches that align with their instructional framework. The 1.75% electronic procurement fee mentioned in the original RFP does not apply, and vendors are not required to have specific licensing status with North Carolina.
