About this file

This document is a Requirements Matrix for American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter Services for the University of Maryland, specifically for the Center for Academic Success (CAS). The document outlines comprehensive requirements for interpreting services across various university settings, including in-person and virtual classrooms, campus meetings, workshops, conferences, performances, and other university-sponsored events. Services are primarily needed at the University of Maryland's main campus in College Park, with potential occasional requirements at UMD Shady Grove, county Extension Offices, and other Maryland locations. The matrix details mandatory qualifications for interpreters, including current RID certification, minimum three years of professional experience, preference for Bachelor's degree holders, and adherence to professional ethics and conduct standards.

The requirements specify detailed operational expectations, including service availability Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 9:30 PM, with occasional weekend coverage, and interpreter response times within two hours during standard business hours. Interpreters must have certification, professional experience, and the ability to work in diverse settings with professional equipment for both on-site and remote assignments. The contractor must provide an hourly rate and detailed pricing breakdown, submit invoices separately for different service types, and be prepared to accommodate last-minute scheduling changes and cancellations. The matrix emphasizes the importance of professional conduct, confidentiality, and flexibility in meeting the university's interpreting service needs.
