RFI Response to Questions for the FTC HQ Security Project – 15 June 2023
Q - Do the CAD drawings contain important information not contained in the Adobe drawings? If so, can these CAD drawings be printed to Adobe so they can be posted?
A - The CAD and PDF drawings are the same. System limitations do not allow for CAD drawings to be posted.
Q - We do not see attached the “Security Circulation Analysis of FTC Lobby” as stated in the RFI document. Please post this attachment.
A – The language “See Security Circulation Analysis of FTC Lobby attached” was inadvertently included. This document does not exist.
Q - What type for personnel response for the adjacent entrance do you anticipate?
A - Further clarification on this question is necessary to provide a proper answer.
Q - Will this Scope of Work require blast resistance on windows as well, or just doors for 1st and 2nd floors?
A - Blast resistance is not a requirement of this effort. The assessment pertains to interior spaces of the identified access points, past the doorways.
Q - Will door hardening be a requirement in the garage, or merely vehicle restriction? Company A advises that door hardening/forced entry doors inside the garage be a requirement. This solves an issue of perpetrator entering garage on foot and bypassing local garage attendant.
A - We are looking to stop vehicles near the street level and not at the garage door level. Door hardening can be a consideration for planning and budgeting purposes, but not a requirement. Recommend identifying door hardening as an option, but identifying the type of barriers and associated rating needed at the street level would be a requirement of the RFI process.
Q – If stopping someone for a short time delay period, how will they respond to fire egress?
A - Further clarification on this question is necessary to provide a proper answer. Does this pertain to the vehicle gates?
Q - Does the FTC anticipate blast resistance requirements to the HQ doors and/or windows?
A - No, blast resistance is not part of this effort.
Q - Does the FTC plan to keep all command and control facility doors locked 24/7? If not, which areas will be unlocked during working hours?
A - Command and Control office spaces are locked 24/7. Main entrance doorways (2) that allow employee and visitor entrance are opened during normal duty hours, Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
