About this file
This document is a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to obtain information from real estate and development companies, local/state governments, academia, federal agencies, and other interested parties regarding available commercial office space for sale within the District of Columbia to potentially serve as NASA's future headquarters facility.
The RFI outlines NASA's requirements for the desired facility, including between 375,000 - 525,000 usable square feet of office space to accommodate approximately 2,600 personnel, as well as specific building features such as meeting federal security standards, parking options, access to public transportation, and amenities. NASA is considering various options for the headquarters, including a new lease, building purchase, federal collocation, or a lease with a potential purchase option. Respondents are asked to provide detailed information about potential properties, including location, size, features, ownership/control, timeline, and financial viability. Responses are due by January 15, 2025, but NASA has not committed to any subsequent solicitation or contract award.

Title:
THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IS SEEKING EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

This is a "sources sought" notice, not a Request for Proposals (RFP) or an Announcement for Proposals (AFP). This is a Request for Information (RFI) only. Responses to this RFI are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. The Government will not reimburse respondents for any costs incurred in preparation of the response of this announcement, and no basis for claims against the Government shall arise as a result of a response to this “sources sought” notice.
Description
The Government is conducting market research to determine interest and capability for available commercial business properties for sale to support office and related space. The Government is considering alternative space if economically advantageous. In making this determination, the Government will consider, among other things, the availability of alternative space that potentially can satisfy the Government’s requirements, as well as costs likely to be incurred through relocating, such as physical move costs, replication of tenant improvements and telecommunication infrastructure, and non-productive agency downtime.
This Request for Information (RFI) is being issued to obtain responses from members of the real estate and development community, local and state jurisdictions, academia, other Federal agencies, commercial aerospace partners, and other parties, that are interested in submitting information pertaining to purchase options the Government might consider for a headquarters facility within the District of Columbia. This RFI is being released to inform the Government’s options for headquarters housing, which could include a new lease procurement or a building purchase or federal collocation or a lease with a potential purchase option.
