Request for Information ReferenceQuestionGovernment Answer
1SOW Table 1A, Item A (Aircrew Computer), Required InterfacesCan the video interface be in the dock? No. Video interface shall be provided from the tablet.
2SOW Table 1A, Item A (Aircrew Computer), Certified Electromagnetic CompatibilityIs the keyboard required to be 461G certified or just the base unit? Both the tablet and keyboard must meet the 461G certification specifications as specified. Please note that the AC adapter is not subject to 461G compliance; therefore, testing should be conducted using battery power only.
3SOW Table 1A, Item A (Aircrew Computer), Rugged DesignWhat is the intention of changing the 810 requirements from Certified to Designed to Meet? The primary difference between "Designed" and "Certified" pertains to the requirement for vendors to supply the associated test report. In the case of "Designed," vendors are not mandated to provide the test report linked to the pertinent specification. Conversely, "Certified" denotes that the vendor must submit the complete test report for the associated specification alongside their proposal/bid/quote, should proposals/bids/quotes be subsequently requested by the Government for this effort, thereby ensuring adherence to the established specification.
4SOW Table 1A, Item A (Aircrew Computer), Required InterfacesIs Thunderbolt an acceptable video output?Yes.
5SOW Table 1A, Item A (Aircrew Computer), Device Form FactorDoes a 2-in-1 convertible fall into the “detachable category” in that it can act as a tablet only and clamshell?Yes, provided the entire device complies with the Size & Weight (Tablet Only) requirements outlined in Table 1A:

The tablet dimensions should adhere to the following specifications:

Depth: Maximum 1.5” Height: Maximum 12.5” Width: Maximum 10” Weight: Less than 6 lbs.

SOW, Paragraph 3.1, Items DefinedPlease provide the part numbers or SKU for each item.It is the responsibility of each vendor to formulate their own Request for Information (RFI) response based on the requirements outlined in the Statement of Work (SOW). Vendors are encouraged to thoroughly review the entire SOW document to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the project needs and specifications. The Government does not provide specific part numbers or SKUs, as this allows vendors the flexibility to identify the most suitable and cost-effective solutions that meet or exceed the stated requirements. Your expertise in selecting appropriate components and formulating a complete RFI response is an important part of the RFI process to aid in the Government's market research for this effort. Please ensure that your RFI response addresses all aspects of the SOW and clearly demonstrates how your solution will fulfill the project requirements.
6SOW Table 1A, Item A (Aircrew Computer), Solid State Drive (SSD)Will the Government know during the solicitation process specifically what SSD size they will purchase? If the Government determines that it is in the Government's best interest to proceed forward with the solicitation of this effort, the Government will request pricing for the solution configured with a 1TB capacity as the base option and with a 2TB capacity available as an optional upgrade. Any final decision regarding the capacity selection will be determined prior to any potential award of this effort. This approach allows for flexibility in the procurement process and enables the Government to make an informed decision.
7SOW, Paragraph 5.1, Packaging RequirementsCan you please provide additional details on ISTA certification? Is it only required for equipment not certified to MIL-STD-810 4" Drop shock? Does this have any relation to the corrugated packaging the devices are shipped inside of?The exclusion of ISTA testing for components that meet specific MIL-STD 810 standards was intended to expedite delivery to the Government. However, after further discussions among Government stakeholders, it has been decided to remove this exclusion prior to any potential solicitation. Consequently, if a solicitation of this effort is subsequently made for this effort, the soliciation will identify that all packaged End Items weighing more than two pounds will require ISTA certification. This change ensures that all relevant components undergo appropriate testing to confirm their durability and reliability, ultimately benefiting the Government's distribution process.
8SOW, Paragraph 7, Warranty RequirementsWith regards to Warranty Requirements, will the Government ship units needing warranty repair back to CONUS for warranty repair or replacement? If not, what is the Government's expectations for OCONUS units needing warranty repair/replacement?Yes, at the direction of the warranty provider, the Government will ship back required items or components for repair or replacement. Please review all terms and conditions specificed in Section 7 of the SOW, specifically Paragraphs 7.4, User Data Protections and 7.6 Return Shipment.
9SOW, Paragraph 3.1, Items DefinedWhat brand of computers does the Government currently use?The Government currently employs a diverse range of computer brands, which include, but are not limited to, GETAC, Panasonic, Dell Computers, NCS Technologies, and ACE Computers.
