About this file

This is a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the United States Secret Service's National Computer Forensics Institute for market research on procuring two direct-view LED (DvLED) video walls and an accompanying sound system for a new auditorium in Hoover, Alabama. The proposed specifications include Nanolumens Engage Series 2.56 mm pixel pitch video walls, each 23.6 feet wide by 13.2 feet vertical, configured in 12x12 units, with a minimum resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, 60 Hz frame rate, and 1,200 nits brightness. The audio system would utilize JBL SRX900 Series powered line arrays and subwoofers, designed to support presenter mobility and multimedia presentations.

Interested vendors are requested to provide detailed responses addressing technical feasibility, alternative solutions, vendor capabilities, cost considerations, and compliance information by December 31, 2025. The RFI seeks input on product viability, potential challenges, installation requirements, lifecycle costs, and integration capabilities. This market research will help the agency determine whether to proceed with a formal procurement (RFP) and refine their requirements. The document emphasizes that this is purely for information gathering and does not constitute a solicitation or guarantee of contract award.

Request for Information (RFI)

Industry Input: Direct-View LED Video Wall for Auditorium with Sound System

1. Purpose / Background

The United States Secret Service’s National Computer Forensics Institute is conducting market research to inform the potential procurement of two large-format direct-view LED (DvLED) video walls and an accompanying sound system in a planned auditorium for its training facility in Hoover, Alabama. The auditorium is a new structure that is being constructed between now and June 2027. This RFI is issued in accordance with FAR 15.2, to gather industry insights on technical feasibility, vendor capabilities, alternative products, and acquisition approaches.

At this stage, the government is not yet issuing a solicitation or Request for Proposal (RFP), and no contract will be awarded on the basis of this RFI. Responses will be used for planning, requirements definition, budgeting, and acquisition strategy.

2. Government Requirements / Proposed Architecture

• Target Location: National Computer Forensics Institute campus in Hoover, Alabama.

• Auditorium Description: This auditorium will seat 250 students with tiered seating. The wall hosting the two video walls will be approximately 30 feet (vertical) by 75 feet (horizontal). See attached auditorium diagram below.

• Desired Display: two large-format DvLED wall, to function as the primary stage / front-of-room visual display.

• Proposed Product: Nanolumens Engage Series, 2.56 mm pixel pitch (commercial-grade). Nanolumens’ published product information: Nanolumens Engage Series

• Wall Configuration: two sets of 12 units × 12 units,

• Display Aspect Ratio Required: 16:9

• Minimum Display Resolution: 1920 px x1080 px

• Minimum Frame Rate: 60 Hz

• Minimum Brightness: 1,200 nits

• Approximate Video Wall Dimensions: Each of the proposed two displays are 23.6 feet

(horizontal) × 13.2 feet (vertical) aligned with the student seating columns and allowing space for a present between.

• Performance Expectations: High resolution, brightness sufficient for full light in an auditorium environment, uniformity across units, reliable service life, maintenance, support, and integration with existing AV control systems (AMX video encorders/decoders)

• Proposed Audio Products: JBL SRX900 Series powered line arrays and additional subwoofers https://www.nanolumens.com/engage-series/

• Performance Expectations: This audio system will need to allow for a presenter to move about the auditorium with additional audience participation. Additionally, the audio system will be used for presenting multimedia includes video, vocals, and music in addition to the video wall’s display source.

3. Information Sought

The government requests input from interested and capable vendors, system integrators, manufacturers, and other stakeholders. Specifically, we seek information in the following areas:

1. Technical Feasibility / Alternative Solutions

a. Whether the proposed two 12 × 12 configurations of the 2.56 mm Nanolumens Engage Series is technically viable (visibility, structural, power, heat, control, etc.).

b. Potential challenges (e.g., brightness, cooling, installation, power, seams, calibration, long-term maintenance).

c. Alternative direct-view LED or other large screen display products (from other manufacturers) that could meet or exceed the performance of the Nanolumens solution, including different pixel pitches, modular configurations, or supporting technologies.

d. Whether the proposed JBL SRX900 Series product is technically viable (sound clarity, scalability, network controlled, DSP integration, frequency response suitable for speech and full-range multimedia, and uniform coverage).

e. Alternative line array loudspeakers and subwoofers suitable for this requirement.

f. Proposed compatible subwoofers capable of extending the low frequency reproduction for music and multimedia.

2. Vendor Capabilities & Supply

a. Whether your company / organization can design, provide, install, and support a video wall and sound system of the specified size and configuration.

b. Capacity: Lead time, production capacity, and typical delivery timelines for similar solutions.

c. Experience: Past projects (especially in government or large-auditorium settings), references, performance metrics, and support models.

d. Service, warranty, and maintenance offerings (e.g., repair, calibration, spare modules).

e. Integration capabilities with control systems (e.g., AMX), power systems, and redundancy / backup.
