About this file
REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) SUMMARY
This is a Request for Information issued by the United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) to conduct market research on autonomous and semi-autonomous transportation capabilities across all modes (air, land, sea, and multi-modal). The RFI number is TRANSCOM26C005 and seeks information on both passenger and cargo movement innovations. Importantly, this RFI does not constitute a Request for Proposal or promise of future procurement, and the Government will not reimburse respondents for information or administrative costs incurred.
Respondents should provide comprehensive technical overviews structured around seven key information categories: Company Profile (organization details and autonomous logistics experience); Current Autonomous Capabilities (fielded platforms with payload capacities, operational range, operating environments, and Technology Readiness Level); Developmental Roadmap (research and development platforms with fielding timelines and 3-10 year milestones); Scalability and Flexibility (system scaling capabilities and dynamic routing); Interoperability (integration with existing logistics nodes, material handling equipment, and command/control networks); Cybersecurity and Resilience (protection against cyber threats and electronic interference in contested environments); and Regulatory Navigation (domestic and international regulatory compliance strategies). Submissions must be unclassified, submitted in PDF or standard commercial formats, limited to 15 pages excluding cover pages and marketing materials, and directed to Ms. Brenda Marshall (brenda.l.marshall10.civ@mail.mil, 618-817-9385) by 12:00 PM CST on May 26, 2026. Any proprietary information must be clearly marked for appropriate government safeguarding.

REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI)
FOR
UNITED STATES TRANSPORTATION COMMAND (USTRANSCOM)
Innovative Autonomous Transportation Capabilities for Global Operations
TRANSCOM26C005
1. RFI Overview
The United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) is issuing this Request for Information (RFI) to conduct market research and identify commercial industry capabilities, innovations, and developmental roadmaps in the field of autonomous transportation.
The Department of War (DoW) is exploring how autonomous and semi-autonomous systems can be leveraged to support future global mobility operations. This RFI seeks information across all modes of transportation (air, land, sea, and multi-modal) for both passenger and cargo movements.
Disclaimer: There is no current requirement for movement associated with this RFI. This is solely for information and planning purposes and does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP) or a promise to issue an RFP in the future. The Government will not pay for any information or administrative costs incurred in response to this RFI.
2. Background Information
USTRANSCOM conducts globally integrated mobility operations, leading the broader Joint Deployment and Distribution Enterprise (JDDE). Our mission requires the movement of small and large numbers of passengers, as well as all dimensions of cargo (from standard pallets to outsized and oversized equipment), across domestic and international domains.
As autonomous technologies mature, USTRANSCOM seeks to understand how the commercial transportation industry is integrating these capabilities to enhance safety, efficiency, velocity, and global reach.
3. Information Requested
Respondents are encouraged to provide comprehensive overviews of their technologies. To facilitate review, please structure your responses addressing the categories outlined below.
Category Specific Information Sought
Company Profile Organization name, size, primary domain (air, sea, land), and summary of commercial experience with autonomous or semi-autonomous logistics.
Current Autonomous Capabilities
Detailed descriptions of currently fielded autonomous platforms. Include payload capacities (passenger volume or cargo dimensions/weight), operational range, operating environments, and current Technology Readiness Level (TRL).
Developmental Roadmap
Overview of autonomous platforms currently in research and development.
Include projected timelines for fielding, anticipated capabilities, and expected milestones over the next 3 to 10 years.
Scalability & Flexibility
How your autonomous solutions scale from small-scale movements to massive capacity lifts. Detail the system's ability to handle dynamic routing and varying cargo dimensions.
Interoperability Information on how the autonomous platform integrates with existing manual or automated logistics nodes, material handling equipment (MHE), and command/control networks.
Cybersecurity & Resilience
Approach to securing data links, navigation systems, and control mechanisms against cyber threats, spoofing, or electronic interference in contested environments.
Regulatory Navigation
Strategies and current progress regarding domestic and international regulatory compliance (e.g., FAA, IMO, DOT) for unmanned or autonomous operations.
4. Submission Instructions
Concise responses focused on the technical and operational merits of the autonomous systems are appreciated.
