About this file

This document is a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Strategic Materials Directorate seeking industry input on a potential acquisition of 222 metric tons of Indium Ingots for the National Defense Stockpile (NDS). The RFI requests comprehensive details from potential vendors, including company capabilities, material specifications, supply chain information, delivery logistics, storage conditions, market insights, and administrative compliance. Vendors are required to submit a detailed 20-page response by August 26, 2025, at 5:00 PM EDT via email to contract specialist Zoe Siemer and contracting officer Rachel Leak.

The RFI seeks extensive information across six key areas: general company data, material characteristics, supply chain details, delivery capabilities, storage requirements, and market information. Specific areas of inquiry include indium grades, purity specifications, production capacity, delivery timelines, pricing models, testing methods, and potential manufacturing changes. The document emphasizes that this is a planning-stage RFI, is not a binding contract solicitation, and vendors will not be compensated for their responses. The potential contract is associated with NAICS code 325180 for Indium chloride manufacturing, with a small business size standard of 1,000 employees.
