About this file
This is a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the Air Force on May 8, 2026, regarding a proposed brand-name Class Justification and Approval (J&A) for standardization of Fire Alarm Control Panels (FACP) across USAF installations. The RFI, notice number FA805126Q4004, seeks industry feedback to inform the government's acquisition strategy before a formal solicitation is issued. The Air Force plans to renew an existing Class J&A (originally approved in December 2021) for an additional five-year period covering fiscal years 2027 through 2032, enabling individual installations to select standard FACP brands based on existing inventory when new or replacement systems are required. FACP systems will be procured through local dealers and distributors supporting the standardized brands. The requirement falls under NAICS code 335313 (Switchgear and Switchboard Apparatus Manufacturing) with a small business size standard of 1,250 employees.
Responses to this RFI are due by 4:00 P.M. CST on June 8, 2026, and must be limited to two pages. The Air Force requests that respondents identify their company role (manufacturer, supplier, or both), provide feedback on the proposed Class J&A, and address eight specific questions covering FACP sales data to federal agencies, proprietary diagnostic software access for government personnel, OEM-approved training availability and volume discounts, parts availability processes, and whether FACP standardization remains an industry best practice for reducing lifecycle costs. Responses should include company name and address, point of contact information, CAGE code, SAM registration status, DUNS number, business size, and socio-economic categories. All information submitted is voluntary and non-proprietary. The point of contact is Contracting Officer Tommy G. Leos, Jr. at tommy.leos.2@us.af.mil, located at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida.

Request for Information
This is a Request for Information (RFI) seeking feedback from any interested parties with regard to a proposed brand-name Class Justification and Approval (J&A) for standardization of Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP) at the installation level (i.e., Air Force Base). 772 ESS/PKD, at Tyndall Air Force Base, plans to allow each USAF installation within and Outside the Contiguous United States to select, based on its existing inventory, a standard brand of FACP when new/replacement FACP are required. USAF installations intend to continue to obtain new/replacement FACP from local dealers and distributors that supply the standard brands.
The current brand-name FACP Class J&A was originally approved in December 2021 for five years. The USAF intends to renew the J&A for another five years (FY27 through FY32) in support of standardization of its FACP inventory through natural attrition. The new Class J&A will support various installation-level contracts for new/replacement FACP. We ask that you respond to this RFI so we may better understand how the planned J&A may impact industry.
