About this file

This document is a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the South Dakota Department of Health (DOH) for a statewide trauma registry. The DOH directly receives trauma data from 45 trauma facilities and imported data from four American College of Surgeon (ACS) verified facilities, with an annual volume of approximately 8,000 patients. The RFI is seeking information from interested providers on their capabilities to develop, implement, and maintain a trauma registry system that can collect data, generate reports, and accept data from other registries such as the National EMS Information System dataset. The RFI response instructions outline specific requirements the DOH is seeking, including role-based user accounts, a foundation registry and data model, the ability to import legacy data, compliance with data standards, and potential integration with NEMSIS. Respondents are asked to provide an executive summary, details on development and implementation, estimated timelines, project management experience, and recommendations for additional requirements.

The RFI does not mention specific pricing terms, set-asides, incumbents, or funding sources. It states that the DOH will not pay for any information requested in the RFI or be liable for any costs incurred by the vendors. The purpose of the RFI is to gather information to inform next steps, which may include issuing a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the trauma registry system.
