The vault will be constructed using regular density concrete (typically, 143 lbs./cubic foot).

The use of high density concrete due to space limitation is also acceptable. The basic requirements for the vault are as follows;

- Maze less vault with electrically operated shielded door

- Highest photon beam Energy; 15 MV

- Highest electron beam energy; 18 MeV

- Photon beam dose rate range; 600-2400 MU/min

- Largest field size at isocenter; 50 cm diameter

- Finished wall/ceiling dimensions at isocenter; 28 feet wide, 26 feet deep, and 12 feet height.

629-335 Establish Radiology and Oncology Program at SLVHCS Page 9 of 30

2.4.1.7.3.18 The manufacture will have Construction Guidelines/Requirements, Pre- Installation Checklists, etc. that the DB must adhere to. These documents are very similar from manufacture to manufacture. The Government will provide these after the equipment is purchased.

2.4.1.7.3.19 A network of cameras and laser positioning systems will be part of the manufacturers equipment.

2.4.1.7.3.20 The manufacturer will not install their equipment until the vault construction is complete and building systems are operational and the vault space is a dust free environment. Other requirements may be contained in the typical manufacture Pre-Installation Checklist. The DB is to prioritize the completion of the vaults and control rooms so that the manufacturer can start installation as soon as all building systems are commissioned.

2.4.1.7.3.21 Due to the continual rapid change in technology and high-tech equipment, such as with the linear accelerator and its cameras and positioning system, conduit and wiring requirements can change between the time the space is designed and constructed. Contractor is responsible to coordinate with manufacturer for currently known pending design changes in the industry.
