This document is a Request for Information (RFI) issued by Orange County Information Technology (OCIT) in California for a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solution. The RFI seeks information from vendors to supplement and/or replace the County's current VDI architecture, with no predetermined preference for technical strategy (such as upgrading existing systems, developing a new cloud-based system, or implementing a Commercial-off-the-Shelf solution). Key dates include RFI release on August 1, 2024, a question submission deadline of August 15, 2024, proposal due date of August 22, 2024, and a vendor demonstration on August 29, 2024. The County is requesting one electronic PDF copy uploaded to their online bidding system, with responses aimed at exploring VDI options that can support a minimum of 500 concurrent users across various client devices.
The RFI outlines comprehensive requirements for the VDI solution, including business, technical, security, service, and delivery specifications. Critical requirements include support for multiple device types, Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) capabilities, compliance with county policies, advanced security features (multi-factor authentication, encryption), integration with existing IT infrastructure, and scalability. The County seeks a vendor that can provide implementation services, comprehensive staff training, ongoing technical support, and maintenance. Additional expectations include a proven track record of delivering VDI solutions to similar-sized organizations, a detailed project implementation plan, and infrastructure located in the United States. Vendors are asked to provide company information, solution descriptions, and pricing details as part of their response.
