About this file
This document is a Requirements Document for the evaluation of a Contraves Model 445 120-inch Air Bearing Centrifuge used by the 746th Test Squadron (746 TS) for Global Positioning System (GPS) denial and Inertial Navigation System testing. The centrifuge experienced a significant water intrusion and requires an evaluation before being placed back into operational status.
The contractor shall provide a certified technician to conduct a visual inspection of the centrifuge, including the control console, motor power amplifier enclosures, interconnect cables, and all accessible panels. The contractor shall determine any damage caused by the water intrusion, check the encoding and servo control parameters, evaluate abnormal and/or undesired operations, and indicate any damaged components. The contractor shall deliver the documented results of the evaluation within 60 days after the inspection. This evaluation is related to a Special Notice for a sole source procurement of services from Acutronic USA Inc. by the Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Test Center.

CONTRAVES CENTRIFUGE EVALUATION
Requirements Document
For
704th Test Group/746th Test Squadron
11 Sept 2024
1.0 PURPOSE
The 704th Test Group (704 TG) mission is to be the premier provider of unique test and evaluation capabilities relevant to tomorrow’s warfighter through world-class people improving technical excellence, cost-effectiveness, and agility. The 746th Test Squadron (746 TS) is assigned to the 704 TG. The 746 TS conducts Global Positioning System (GPS) denial and Inertial Navigation System testing. The 746 TS Contraves Model 445 120-inch Air Bearing Centrifuge is used for precision testing of guidance components and systems at acceleration rates from 0.5 to 50g for sustained periods of time. The 120-inch centrifuge is the only precision centrifuge to have a two-axis gimbal around the test cell at the boom tip.
This provides the capability to perform test item alignments quickly and also counter rotate the test item at each g level so that the test item stays oriented in the same direction. The centrifuge experienced a significant water intrusion and requires an evaluation before being placed back into an operational status.
2.0 SCOPE
The Contractor shall:
2.1 Provide a certified technician to be physically present and conduct a visual inspection of the Contraves Model 445 120-inch Air Bearing Centrifuge.
2.1.1 Inspect and evaluate the control console, motor power amplifier enclosures, interconnect cables, and all accessible panels.
2.1.2 Open and inspect all covers related to the inspection areas.
2.2 Determine any damage caused by the water intrusion to all inspected areas, to include the air bearing. The following must be accomplished with one motor power amplifier inoperable and removed from the system. Using the Acutrol 3000e datalogger, the Contractor will:
2.2.1 Check the encoding and servo control parameters.
2.2.2 Evaluate abnormal and/or undesired operations.
2.2.3 Indicate any components damaged.
3.0 MILESTONES
The Contractor will provide the documented results of the evaluation no later than 60 days after the inspection of the centrifuge.
4.0 DELIVERABLES
The contractor shall deliver all documentation to jerome.echelbarger@us.af.mil or 746 TS/TGGOG, Attn: Jerome Echelbarger at 1644 Vandergrift road, building 1265, Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico 88330.
