About this file
This is a Question and Answers clarification document for a carpet removal and installation project at Union Theater, issued by ALPLM (Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum). The project involves removal and installation of carpet throughout the theater, including stair lighting work, and encompasses two work sections: Section 1 (top seating area with 4 rows of seats, door entrance areas, and walkway) and Section 2 (bottom seating area with 5 rows of seats and walkway to stage). Work is scheduled to begin Monday, November 3, 2025, and must be completed by end of day Saturday, November 15, 2025, representing a 13-day project window. A temporary platform extending from the stage will be removed on the morning of November 11, with carpet installation permitted to begin immediately thereafter. ALPLM staff requires three days between completion of Section 1 and removal of the bottom half of seats in Section 2, though vendors will be notified if removal occurs sooner. The lighting work involves removal, wiring, and installation only, as lights have been pre-purchased as direct replacements with no new wire channels required.
The vendor must supply adhesive using the monolithic carpet tile installation method with Taylor 2025 Primer tile adhesive or equivalent, doorway transition tracks and T-molding in black, stair nose epoxy adhesive, and 2-sided black stair nosing. No molding cutting is necessary as all materials are pre-ordered in required sizes. Bars in front of the last row of seats in Section 1 will remain in place; all seats will be removed with cabling performed in-house, leaving blank sections with bolts. Handrails along exterior walls of Section 2 will not be removed. This is a state-funded, prevailing wage and certified payroll project, requiring that all labor and material costs, including overtime, be included in the bid quote.
