About this file
This is a sole source justification memorandum from the Corpus Christi Army Depot requesting approval to procure preventive maintenance (PM) and calibration services for a SPECTRO MAXX LMM05 Optical Emission Spectrograph (BC G9500) from SPECTRO Analytical Instruments Inc. in Mahwah, NJ.
The justification explains that this specialized NDT laboratory equipment requires service updates, calibrations and PM to prevent safety of flight issues and critical system failures. The equipment is used daily to analyze material components prior to final assembly in support of depot production shops. The memo indicates that failure to fund this maintenance would disrupt the depot's ability to properly analyze components and interrupt critical weapons systems overhaul and repair operations. This is accompanied by a related RFI seeking information from companies with experience servicing this type of equipment, though the RFI explicitly states it does not constitute a commitment to issue a future solicitation. The contracting activity is the Army Contracting Command at Redstone Arsenal.
