About this file
This document is a Justification and Approval (J&A) memorandum for a sole source procurement of preventative maintenance services for a Stratasys Fortus 450MC 3D Printer at the Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD). The Army Contracting Command is seeking to award a purchase order to Stratasys Inc., the original equipment manufacturer, for ongoing maintenance services due to the company's proprietary equipment design and exclusive technical capabilities. The procurement is valued at approximately $19,069, with a performance period from 15 November 2024 to 28 February 2025, and is funded through Army Working Capital Funds for fiscal year 2025.
The solicitation (W912NW-25-Q-0052) is a sole source procurement with a base period plus three option years, focusing specifically on maintaining the Fortus 450MC 3D Printer used by Production Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing Branch at CCAD. Market research was conducted between 31 January 2025 and 28 March 2025, confirming Stratasys as the sole viable service provider. The previous maintenance contract (W912NW-22-P-0071) was awarded to Stratasys Inc. on 17 June 2022 for $40,150, establishing a precedent for this continued sole source approach based on the manufacturer's exclusive technical expertise and proprietary equipment specifications.
