About this file

This is an overhaul description document that outlines requirements for reconditioning 25 turbosupercharger assemblies (NSN 2950-01-590-4198, P/N E23529000) used on MTU S60 diesel engines in 45' RB-M Coast Guard vessels. The scope includes open/inspect, report, repair, preservation, packing, and shipping of the turbo assemblies to the USCG Surface Forces Logistics Center warehouse.

The contractor must disassemble and inspect each turbo assembly according to OEM instructions, provide an inspection report to the COR for review, and proceed with reconditioning after approval. Units found to be Beyond Economical Repair (exceeding 65% of new turbo cost) must be reported for disposition guidance. Each unit must be preserved and individually wrapped for 2-year storage, packed in individual wooden crates with specific marking requirements, and include standard manufacturer's warranty. Three recommended sources are listed: Grand Slam Diesel Services LLC (Virginia Beach), W.W. Williams Company (Dearborn), and Western Branch Diesel Inc (Portsmouth). The cost estimate is not to exceed $3,000 per unit.
