About this file
This document is a questions and answers file for RFP 2025-09, a Walker County mowing, litter pick-up, and weed control contractor solicitation. The project requires four cutting cycles per year with seven weeks allowed to complete each cycle, with a preferred start date of April. The scope of work includes mowing services, litter removal before and after mowing operations, Johnson grass spraying three times per year, and weed eating around signs, phone pedestals, fire hydrants, and guardrails during each cycle. Approximately 60% of roads will require boom mower equipment for trimming woodlines and overhead growth to maintain a 15-foot clearance from the roadway. The contractor must maintain cutting consistency across all cycles, trim behind and in front of guardrails, and maintain areas behind mailboxes and other road obstacles.
The contractor is responsible for all trash disposal, including obtaining a fee waiver at the landfill for dumping accumulated litter, as the county will not provide a dumpster. Spot picking of litter must occur after initial mowing passes to address debris left during the original collection. The contractor must maintain uniform cuts and clear all limbs, growth, and obstructions from woodlines, fence rows, and overhead areas throughout the contract term to ensure roadway safety and accessibility.
