About this file

This document contains questions from potential vendors regarding a bid amendment for the Illinois Department of Corrections' (IDOC) purchase of reading materials, including books (fiction, non-fiction, reference) and legal supplements (law dictionaries, lawyer directories). The IDOC is conducting a one-time purchase to meet the unique needs of their facilities. The questions pertain to whether there will be any labeling or processing needed for the books, if the IDOC has a Library Management System, and where questions should be submitted (to susan.hansen@illinois.gov).

The contract opportunity is for the IDOC - GRANTS - STATEWIDE - SOS GRANT LIBRARY BOOKS, and the IDOC does not currently have a Library Management System. The IDOC is allowing facilities to choose their own reading materials to best serve their patron base, and there is no mention of specific quantities, response dates, award dates, or contract term.

Questions from potential vendors for 24-426DOC-GRANT-B-41647

1. If there will be any labeling or processing needed for these books?

Many people did request book processing (including labels and book pockets), but not all. The orders were marked as “pre-processing requested” if they wanted processing for a particular item. Generally, the facilities either wanted all of their books pre-processed or none of them.

2. If the Department of Correction has any kind of Library Management System?

DOC does not currently have any sort of Library Management System.

3. Where questions should be submitted?

Please send questions to susan.hansen@illinois.gov.
