About this file
This document contains questions and clarifications related to an Invitation for Bid (IFB) from the Illinois Secretary of State for new flooring installation at the Charles Chew Driver Services Facility in Chicago, Illinois. The project consists of furnishing labor, materials, tools, and equipment to install approximately 9,040 square feet of new black vinyl cove base and vinyl composition tile (VCT) flooring. The IFB clarifies that LVT is not required and all references to LVT should be considered as VCT. The document also provides guidance on following the project drawings, using leveling compound as needed to ensure a professional installation, and understanding that the existing floor conditions may require additional preparation work by a separate contractor prior to the new flooring installation.
The document indicates that the IFB and attachments represent the entire bidding package, and the floorplan drawing provided is for reference only and should not be used to follow any listed keynotes. Pricing terms, funding sources, and other salient information are not included in this document.

Questions and Clarifications New Flooring Installation, Chicago South Driver Services Facility IFB
22-350SOS-SOS35-B-22955
Corrections:
1. The bid advertisement states in the brief description that the approximate square footage is 90,040. The correct approximate square footage is 9,040.
Questions:
1. Can you please clarify what floor finish is required to install? LVT or VCT As we are requesting the installation of Armstrong #51916 Dutch Delft Blue, Imperial Texture, Standard Excelon; you are required to install VCT.
All references to LVT shall now be considered VCT.
2. Do we need to follow all of the keynotes mentioned in the demo plan drawings?
The IFB and attachments together (if any) represent the entire bidding package for your use in the submission of bids. The floorplan distributed at the meeting is for square footage reference only and is from a much older project (see 2007 date on drawing) DO NOT FOLLOW ANY KEYNOTES LISTED ON THIS DRAWING!
3. Could you clarify Section 1.3.12? “Floor must be flat to within 1/8” in 10 ft. Use leveling compound as required.”
ILSOS understands that this facility is over 60 years of age and with existing floor tile and carpet now in place. As explained in the meeting, another contractor will come in and will remove the carpet tile and will clean to the best of their ability to allow for the installation of the new flooring. Use leveling compound as needed to insure a professional installation.
