About this file

This document contains questions and answers related to a Request for Quote (RFQ) for portable sign stand systems to be delivered to various locations in Districts 1, 4, and 7 in the state of Illinois by August 15, 2022. The RFQ specifies that the sign stands must be able to hold a 48x60 sign on 0.125 inch aluminum, and that aluminum stands are preferred over steel due to weight considerations. The RFQ requires both standard and tripod-style sign stands.

The RFQ does not mention any pricing terms, set asides, incumbents, funding requirements, or other salient financial information. The document focuses on the technical specifications and requirements for the sign stands, including that they must be MASH approved and able to hold the specified sign size and thickness.

Portable Sign Stands Questions and Answers

Q: We have MASH Approved Sign Stands but not tested for .125” thick aluminum sheet. .100 we definitely do. On the submittal sheet it has a space to check yes or no. If our MASH Letter doesn’t say .125 are we still able to Bid?

A: Sign thickness: we require the sign stands to hold a 48x60 sign on 0.125 inch aluminum. We can't go less - 0.125 is our standard thickness, and is our standard so the signs have adequate bend resistance.

Q: Item #2 specifies Korman Full Size Aluminum or Equivalent: Does it need to be Aluminum or just need to hold .125 sheeting?

A: Stand material - we specified aluminum for sign stands so their weight is manageable. A steel sign stand will be much heavier for our workers.

Q: Item #3 specifies Korman Tripod or Equivalent: Does it have to be Tripod or just approved to hold .125 sheeting?

A: Tripod stands: we want a standard and a tripod stand on the contract. Some yards use standard sign stands, some use tripods.
