About this file

This Question and Answer Sheet pertains to DQ1 2017*0371 Fish Hauling Tank, a procurement opportunity involving the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The document addresses clarifications regarding a fish hauling tank system with integrated monitoring capabilities. Key items under specification include a Neptune Systems Apex Classic Aqua Controller System (one unit, not two as initially listed), inner tank components with a 10-inch camlok dump gate configuration utilizing a pipe nipple welded to the tank rather than a bolted flange, and a complete monitoring system with associated expansion boxes. The procurement specifies an aluminum tank construction for the inner tank with fiberglass outer tank components, incorporating flow meters, regulators, outlet valves, and standard transport equipment, with preference noted for an all-aluminum construction option.

The specification includes a five-year warranty on the tank system. The Q&A clarifications indicate that only one Apex Classic Aqua Controller is required for the monitoring system, addressing a duplication error in the original specifications. The document confirms that alternative material proposals were considered but the final specification calls for aluminum and fiberglass construction rather than wood-based components. Additional technical drawings and specifications are available from the supplier upon request. The procurement reflects specific durability and performance requirements tailored to fish hatchery operations, with consideration given to future similar purchases by other state hatcheries.

Question and Answer Sheet DQ1 2017*0371 Fish Hauling Tank

1) Page 12 of the documented quote lists “One (1) Neptune Systems Apex Classic Aqua Controller System” two separate times. Does Bryan need two of these, or is it a typo?

a. Answer: Just One.

2) Page 11 of the documented quote under the “Inner tanks” section you have a “10” camlok dump gate attached to a boltable flange…” our Brian and spoke with Bryan Johnson about slightly changing this design earlier and they had agreed on excluding the flange all together and using a 10” pipe nipple that would be welded to the tank. We can obviously do it either way, but depending on the particular design Bryan wants the price will be different.

a. Answer: The 10” pipe nipple is fine as long as there is still a camlok on the end.

3) Thank you for the opportunity. This appears to be a very specific type of construction and I think we would want to provide you our construction in order to give you the level of product to meet your needs and our expectations on durability. If you are interested in receiving a quotation on an aluminum inner tank (3/16” thick minimum) and fiberglass outer tank (also 3/16” minimum) we would be happy to give you an alternate bid with all other items being the same? This would come with our standard 5-year warranty. Nothing on this tank is wood;

everything is aluminum, fiberglass, stainless and the accompanying components of a typical transport such as flow meters, regulators, outlet valve, etc.

I have attached a couple pictures for you to distribute within the DNR as you see fit. If I can answer any questions on this tank that you might have, even if it is for a future project. We have drawings and specifications as you need.

a. Answer: We would like a completely aluminum tank. But I will pass on this information to other hatcheries that may be purchasing tanks in the future.

4) I have a couple of questions regarding the Monitoring System.

First, everything is listed with a quantity of one EXCEPT there are two of the Classic Aqua Controllers listed – is one an extra, or is that a typo, or..?

Second, apparently there are several types of expansion boxes. Could you provide any additional detail?

a. Answer: Only one.
