Text version

The purpose of Amendment I is to provide additional information as to the size of the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies (NCOTA) grounds.

The below image is a screenshot of the Washington County’s GIS/GPS parcel map. NCOTA cemetery grounds was traced to ascertain the total square meters, which is 487,036.44 meters squared. The conversion is 120 acres. 55 of those acres are cut once per year. 41 acres are cut weekly, leaving 24 acres that are never touched. The original contract was for 37 acres. Five sections on the backlooped road were always included on the original contract of 37 years. A few portions at the end of the backloop road was converted from being woodlands to burial sections, C8, C9, and C10, as well as regarding the old 5 sections on the road. This is the 4 acres that if added to 37, creates 41.
