About this file
This is a Question and Answer response document from the City of Redondo Beach, California Department of Public Works regarding the Citywide Curb Ramp Improvements 2024 Project (Job No. 40399). The project encompasses removal and reconstruction of non-compliant curb ramps across twelve citywide locations, along with asphalt and Portland cement concrete pavement work, ADA-compliant curb ramp installations in three configurations, cross gutters, curb and gutter systems, truncated dome installations, and utility adjustments. The bid schedule contains 23 line items totaling 24 ADA curb ramps, 3,679 square feet of four-inch PCC sidewalk, and 820 linear feet of Type A2 curb and gutter. Electronic sealed proposals are due August 27, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. through the City's OpenGov procurement portal. The contract completion deadline is 60 working days after Notice to Proceed, with liquidated damages set at $1,000 per day for failure to meet this deadline.
This Q&A response specifically clarifies that payment and construction limits for ADA curb ramps are defined between the end limits of curb ramp (ELCR) and begin limits of curb ramp (BLCR) as specified on pages SP-37 and SP-38 of the Special Provisions, with ELCR and BLCR also identified in note 2 of the City of Redondo Beach Notes on each plan sheet. The project is federally funded through a HUD grant (B-26-MC-0528) and subject to prevailing wage requirements under both California Labor Code Section 1770 and the Davis-Bacon and Related Acts. Bidders must hold an active California Class "A" contractor's license, possess a minimum of five years of applicable experience in curb ramp and related public works construction, and demonstrate five recently completed similar projects. A bid bond of not less than 10 percent of the total bid amount is required at submission, with performance, payment, and maintenance bonds required upon award.
