About this file

This is a Question and Answer document for ITB 2026-059, a Fire Extinguisher Inspection and Repair solicitation issued by the State of Maryland. The ITB requests fire extinguisher inspection and repair services across multiple locations. Bidders are required to submit price proposals for various classes of fire extinguishers, including a correction to the Class K extinguisher specification, which is 2.5 lbs rather than 25 lbs as initially listed in the ITB documents (Items A-D on pages 7-10 of the price proposal section).

Key eligibility requirements specify that the prime contractor must demonstrate three years of experience as a formal, registered business providing fire extinguisher inspection and repair services; subcontractor experience cannot substitute for the prime contractor's required experience, though subcontractors may be utilized. Regarding operational procedures, the State will not provide inspection due date records with the ITB; however, the awarded contractor may request such records as needed prior to conducting inspections. No specific response deadlines, site visit requirements, or award dates are referenced in this Q&A document.

Q&A for ITB 2026-059

Fire Extinguisher Inspection and Repair

Answers to Questions:

1. We see a note on the documents of a 3 years in business. Can this experience be combined with a partner sub-contractor? and, is experience of owner count toward the 3 year requirement?

Answer: The prime contractor must have three years of experience as a formal, registered business providing fire extinguisher inspection and repair services. The subcontractor’s experience may not serve in the place of the prime contractor’s experience.

2. Page 7-10 Price Proposal A-D Item #11: Can you confirm the size for the Class K extinguisher is 25lb (as listed) or 2.5lb?

Answer: The correct size for Class K is 2.5 lbs. The ITB is updated accordingly.

3. Are there records to be provided for the extinguisher inspection due dates at each location?

Answer: Records will not be provided with this ITB. However, the awarded contractor may request records as needed prior to inspections.
